First-Generation High School Roadmap Trifold Leaflet
I always wish I had seen one of these in a clinic or at school, so I made one!
Without a doubt, there are a ton of resources online for how to apply to college, but very few are focused on first-generation, and/or low-income students. I remember occasionally going to see my pediatrician growing up and receiving trifold leaflets like: “Practicing Safe Sex” or “So You Have Hit Puberty.” While leaflets like this are important, I always wished there was one that would help me navigate high school. I tried to find a leaflet online, but I couldn’t find one that had all the essential resources I would consider. I also wanted it to be bilingual, in case someone like my mother would come across it, and encourage them to apply to all the resources available to them.
Thus I decided to make my own, after making a version that felt overwhelming, I got some feedback and help from Carmen Duran to make this version much better.
If you are reading this and are affiliated with a clinic, school, center, nonprofit, hospital, etc., please consider printing and sharing this trifold leaflet with others who may find it useful. It is free, and I am always open to suggestions for improving it.
While the formatting looks odd as a PDF, it looks much better once printed out! Take a look for yourself below:
I’ll attach the PDF file here:
Please add corrections or suggestions to improve this leaflet in the comment section. I’ll try to make the corrections and reupload the updated pdf to this post.
With lots of love,
